We listened to your requests and made it much easier to update the Submission Rates and Submission Limits of existing bookmarks.

My Bookmarks - New Submission Control Fields

If you go to your Bookmarks > My Bookmarks page, you’ll notice two new columns: “Submission Rate” and “Submission Limit”. You can use these to quickly update these attributes of your bookmarks.

Also, if you attempt to update the Defaults at the top of the page, you’ll notice a popup window like this:

    Default Submission Update Dialog

This allows you to either mass update all your existing bookmarks AND future bookmarks, or just your future bookmarks.

As always, let us know what you think :)

Earlier this year we gave you the ability to slow down the rate your bookmarks are submitted to the social sites.  Well, now we’ve given you the ability to speed up your submissions!

You’ll see on the Add Bookmark page and the My Bookmarks page a new menu item in the “Submission Rate” menu…Fast!

Disclaimer: there’s no guarantee that the rate you set will be exactly what you receive, because of the human element of SocialAdr. These are just estimates.

    Here’s what the settings mean:
    Drip = Once per week
Slow = Once every 2 days
Normal = 2-3 times per day
Fast = 8 times per day (costs 50% more credits)

We also added some more variability to the delays, for example Drip used to be set to every 7 days.  But now it’s either every 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 days.  This will make the submissions appear even more natural.

    This new feature is v2.741

For this latest release, we’ve done the following:

    • Vyoom connector updated so bookmark URL will always be at end of message as a hyperlink
    • Diigo connector updated to no longer use API as it was taken offline
    • Added more robust error handling to StoryFollower and WebShare connectors
    • Reactivated URL.org social bookmarking site as we are able to connect and post bookmarks successfully again
    • Updated Bookmark4You connector to be faster and give better error messages
    • Disabled Multiply since its social bookmarking service will be discontinued on Dec 1

Also, we’ve disabled SubmissionBoost as we’re not sure if the social sites it was using are beneficial anymore, and we need time to do more testing.  We don’t want our users to burn through credits if they aren’t getting good value.  You won’t see the SubmissionBoost option anymore on the My Bookmarks or Add Bookmark page, but your history will remain accessible.

  • You can now recover deleted bookmarks

If you’ve ever tried to delete a bookmark in SocialAdr, you’ve likely noticed this warning message:

The reason we tried to make it absolutely clear in this message that deleted bookmarks could not be recovered is because the process is truly frustrating.  The CMS that SocialAdr is built on, Elgg, had bookmarking capabilities already, and when a bookmark was deleted it was gone…permanently.  We’ve kept it this way since the very beginning.  So if you ever deleted a bookmark and then wanted to add it back, you had to email Support and get us to help you through the process.

Well, we heard your complaints and took action.  Now, when you delete a bookmark, you’ll see a less-terrifying warning message, but…they are no longer *really* gone.  They get disabled and disappear from your “My Bookmarks” page, and you won’t receive any social submissions on them anymore, but they still exist and can be recovered.

    Introducing, the Deleted Bookmarks page!

You’ll see this new sub-menu item by clicking the “Bookmarks” main menu.

The  button will attempt to undelete any deleted bookmarks you can see.  Alternatively, you can click the  button beside each bookmark to undelete only that bookmark.  Easy!

Feel free to leave any comments/questions below.

PS. This new functionality is release v.2.732.

    This latest release includes:

    • Removed link to old “My Bookmarks” page, so now the new page is the only one available
    • Updated the “Add Bookmark” page URL from /mod/bookmarks/add.php to /pg/bookmarks/add, so the URL format is consistent with the rest of the site
    • Improved handling of bookmark URLs with variables (?=) and fragments (#) so that SocialAdr support isn’t needed to help add these URLs
    • Added a validation on the Reseller – Account Manager page to ensure that sub account names don’t include special characters (#,$,%,etc)
