• Added a new social networking site – ConnectFocus.
• If you have enough credits, the SubmissionBoost checkbox on the “Add Bookmark” page will now be checked by default when you go to add a new bookmark.  This is to encourage the use of SubmissionBoost because it’s a great way to get more variety in your link building.

• The “Spin Preview” on “Add Bookmark” page code has been updated so now every time you click it you’ll see a new spun result.  Previously it would cache the result and you’d keep seeing the same thing over and over.  Read this post to learn more about spintax / spin tags.
• Made updates to our bookmark submission engine to improve error reporting and reduce the stalling of threads.  What does this mean to SocialAdr members?  A higher submission rate = more promotions of your webpages = higher search engine rankings = more traffic.
• Added an “Email address (again for verification)” field to the registration form to help reduce the number of times people have typos in their email addresses and thus never receive the verification email and cannot log into their account.
• Performed server configuration changes to improve page load times.
• Improved error reporting and submission logic for the following social media sites:  SoForce, Connotea, FriendFeed, TTLink, MySiteVote.

You’ll see a new checkbox near the bottom of the “Add Bookmark” page:

We’re especially excited about this because search engines more than ever are factoring what they call ‘social signals’ heavier and heavier in their algorithms. This means that having your bookmark URLs tweeted hundreds of times will push your sites up in the rankings, faster than ever before, shooting past your competition, while driving hordes of fresh traffic.

Here’s how it all works:

‘Free’ Members

1. First you need to head to the Setup Wizard.  Here you’ll create a new Twitter account (if need be) and authorize SocialAdr to access your Twitter account.
2. Next, go to the Share Queue.  You should notice new buttons on each bookmark (they may take a few seconds to load).  By clicking these new buttons you’ll see a popover box like so: If the “Default” tweet message is ok, simply click “Submit”, otherwise feel free to type your own “Custom” message.  Keep in mind the bookmark URL will be auto-appended to the end of your message so you’ll only have about 110 or so characters for your message.  We’re using TinyURLs to shorten any long URLs in order to conserve as much space as possible for the tweet message.  You’re currently able to send a maximum of 5 tweets per day.
3. Now you can head to the History – Tweets Sent page to view all the tweets you’ve sent.  You can see the URL you tweeted about, the SocialAdr user who owned the bookmark, a link to the actual tweet on Twitter.com, how many credits you received, and the timestamp of when it happened.

All Members

1. The number of credits that are earned/deducted for each tweet is calculated based on the # of Twitter followers the account has.
   • ((ln(followers+50)^2)/3)-4
   • Example:  a ‘Free’ member has a Twitter account with 2035 followers. Each tweet that they send will earn them 15.5 * 0.2 = 3.1 credits.  The 0.2 multiplier is consistent with how social bookmarking submission credits are calculated.  The member who owns the bookmark will be deducted 15.5 credits, regardless of which account type they have.
2. On the Add Bookmark page you’ll see a new “Microblog Message” section that allows you to customize the default tweet message for each of your bookmarks.  The default message is simply the bookmark Title.The user who actually posts the tweet to their Twitter account can still choose to write their own custom message, but at least, as the bookmark owner, you can set a custom message that we believe most users will choose to use.  And good news, spin tags {|} are accepted!
3. You can view the history of any tweets you’ve received on the History – Tweets Received page. You’re shown the URL that was tweeted about, the SocialAdr user who sent the tweet, a link to the actual tweet on Twitter.com, how many credits it cost, and the timestamp of when it happened.  Notice that the first row cost 15 credits, because “kane” must have had between 1,000 and 10,000 followers.  The second row cost 5 credits, because “jaspert” must have had between 100 and 1,000 followers.

What if I don’t want users tweeting my bookmarks?

No problem at all, you can opt-out here.

You’ll see this new button on the “Add Bookmark” page.

Here’s how it works:

1. Type or paste a URL into the “Address” field.
2. Click the new “Autofill Fields” button.
3. The Title, Description, and Tags fields will be autofilled.  The text is pulled from the HTML <HEAD> tags as defined on whatever webpage is listed in the Address.

We still recommend you spin the Title and Description though, but at least now you’ll have some applicable text to use as a starting point.

We’ve bumped up the # of bookmarks that Free members can view in the “Share Queue” from 20 to 40 so that should make it easier for you folks that are very selective on what you share.

Also, we’ll unfortunately no longer be submitting bookmarks to Mister-Wong as they are now charging a monthly fee for accounts.

These changes are all part of v2.35.

For this latest release we’ve fixed a bug that was allowing certain bookmarks to exceed their specified Submission Limit.  In addition, the “History” – My Bookmarks” page was updated to be more user-friendly and faster loading.

We’ve also made improvements to SubmissionBoost that have increased the # of sites submitted to by about 40%.  What does this mean?  More diversity in your backlinks, for as little effort as clicking a single check-box on the “Add Bookmark” page

We also wanted to give you a heads up of what we’re working on:

• Facebook “Like” integration
• Twitter “Tweet” integration

Both of these will likely use the same ‘ol SocialAdr credit system that you’re used to.  Our goal is to make them as easy to use as possible but there may be permissions that you’ll need to grant SocialAdr in order for us to access your Facebook/Twitter accounts.

What it does is allows you to submit each bookmark to approximately 25 additional social sites not included in standard SocialAdr submissions.  These are sites that haven’t yet automated submissions to, so it’s a bit of extra manual work for us, but we’re including this new feature at no extra cost…winning!  Note that typical turnaround for SubmissionBoost processing is within 72 hours.

How do I use SubmissionBoost?

Well first off, if you don’t already have a ‘Lazy’ account, you should upgrade.

There’s two pages where you can enable SubmissionBoost:

Add Bookmark:

• Here you’ll see a new checkbox to enable SubmissionBoost.  Simply make sure it’s checked every time you add a new bookmark.

• The up arrow has 3 states:  (off)  (in progress)  (complete).

My Bookmarks:

• Each bookmark will have the SubmissionBoost progress indicator arrow visible.  By clicking the grey arrow, you’ll be enabling SubmissionBoost for that specific bookmark.

Also, the form data is now re-displayed when a validation error occurs.  A few users complained that they spent a long time writing up bookmark content, then after attempting to save it they received a validation error and lost everything they typed (typically in the description).  This won’t happen anymore!  Yay.

The purpose of this is so that we can start sending bookmarks to social bookmarking services that require categories.  There’s quite a few of them so this opens up a lot more possibilities for integration.

We strongly recommend that you update your existing Bookmarks.  If you don’t then we won’t be able to send your bookmarks to any site we integrate with that uses categories.  So any time anyone Shares your bookmarks you’ll be missing out on potential backlinks.

If you can’t find a category that’s a perfect match for your bookmark, just pick the most appropriate one.

This new functionality is the v2.15 release.

This latest release includes:

• An “Upgrade” / “Account Types” page that contains a matrix showing the features of each account type.   You can either access it from your Profile page, the top-menu (if you have a FREE account), or here’s a direct link.

• Mouseover ‘Tooltip’ functionality to help offer tips and explanations of different fields and functionality.  The first page we’ve added this to was Add Bookmark.
• Reduced the limit of creds needed for bookmarks to be automatically enabled when “Sharing”, from 14 to 8.  This means it’s easier for FREE account members to have their bookmarks Shared.
