As of about an hour ago the Twitter integration is live again! We’ve made a few changes in order to comply with the Twitter API Terms of Service, and the good folks at Twitter were kind enough to provide guidance while we made the changes.

Here’s what’s been changed:

“Quick Tweet” page removed – so you are no longer able to queue up 5 tweets with the press of a button. This is so that you’re forced to customize and review every tweet being posted to your account. Sure, it’ll take more time to do your tweets now, but this should make them more desirable and meaningful.

Sponsored declaration added – each tweet will now have one of the following added to it. This is to make it clear to your followers that the message is an advertisement.

Ad:

#ad

Sponsored:

#sponsored

Promo:

#promo

We also strongly recommend that prior to hooking up your Twitter account to SocialAdr, you review the Twitter TOS and the Twitter Rules (specifically the section on Spam). One simple practice you should follow is to also use your Twitter account for real, non-advertisement, unique messages, that don’t include links…in other words, don’t only use your account for SocialAdr or other marketing systems.

As we close in our 10,000th SocialAdr member, we want to do something special. After all, that’s a pretty big milestone. And what better way to celebrate than to give away credits? So, from now until we reach our 10,000th member, YOU, our existing members and affiliates, have a shot at winning major credits for free.

Here’s how it works:

The 9,500th member gets 9,500 free credits (worth $187)

The 9,600th member gets 9,600 free credits (worth $191)

The 9,700th member gets 9,700 free credits (worth $193)

The 9,800th member gets 9,800 free credits (worth $195)

The 9,900th member gets 9,900 free credits (worth $197)

The 10,000th member gets their account FREE forever! (worth up to $1404/year) AND 10,000 free credits (worth $200)

Read more about the contest details here.

So how does this benefit YOU? Because the person that refers a member gets the same bonus that they do! So if you refer the 9500th member, you also get 9,500 credits free. And if you are lucky enough to refer our 10,000th member, not only do you get the 10k free credits, you also will have your current account comped for life. Not too shabby, huh?

So head on over to the special page in our affiliate section where you can find banners, links, and pre-written email(s) to send to your list.

Last night we rolled out version 2.22 of SocialAdr.com. The major change in this release was adding the ability to control how many times a bookmark is submitted before it is automatically disabled.

On the edit bookmark screen, in the bottom right corner, you’ll see the box where you can enter the number of submissions you would like a bookmark to receive:

When choosing a limit, don’t forget that each site counts as a submission. Setting a very low limit means that your bookmark might not even make it to each social bookmarking site once.

Once you’ve set a limit, it will show up in a couple of places. First, under my bookmarks, we will now show you how many submissions you’ve received (instead of the old ‘share’ value) and what the limit is. Looks like this:

And finally, we also show you on the bookmark detail page, so you can see it before you edit:

Once your bookmark has reached the submission limit, we’ll automatically pause it for you. You can always go in and increase the submission limit and then un-pause it if you’d like to promote it more in the future.

We’re hoping that this new capability will let our members have much better control over exactly how their sites and pages are promoted. Let us know what you think!

As we’ve been growing, you can probably imagine that the load on our server has been increasing. At the same time, our need for a higher level of support and customer service is also growing. More users depending on our service means that we need to be confident that we can find help right away if we need it.

To tackle both of these challenges, we moved SocialAdr to a new web host this past week. For the most part it was a smooth transition, although we do have just a couple of minor configuration tweaks that we’re getting cleaned up. The one impact to our customer has been that the speed with which we’re able to process the bookmarks they’ve shared is somewhat decreased. The work is still recorded and will be completed eventually, but it hasn’t been as timely as we’d like.

We’re leveraging the enhanced support capabilities of our new host to get it resolved and expect things to return to usual shortly. For the long run, we’re better positioned at our new home to rapidly scale up as our user base grows.
