If you missed the email, we just wanted to let you know that we’ll be at Traffic Rock Stars this weekend.  If you haven’t heard about it, Traffic Rock Stars is a free virtual conference running all weekend, featuring big name marketers like Yanik Silver, Mike Filsaime, Jeff Johnson, and more.  They are all talking about how to drive big traffic to your website, so it’s definitely worth checking out.

Plus, like I mentioned, SocialAdr is being featured.  So you can come visit us at our booth, or tune in on Sunday morning to hear me talk about using social bookmarking to drive traffic to your sites.

    Tags: pause, submission limit

Last night we rolled out version 2.22 of SocialAdr.com.  The major change in this release was adding the ability to control how many times a bookmark is submitted before it is automatically disabled.

On the edit bookmark screen, in the bottom right corner, you’ll see the box where you can enter the number of submissions you would like a bookmark to receive:

When choosing a limit, don’t forget that each site counts as a submission.  Setting a very low limit means that your bookmark might not even make it to each social bookmarking site once.

Once you’ve set a limit, it will show up in a couple of places.  First, under my bookmarks, we will now show you how many submissions you’ve received (instead of the old ‘share’ value) and what the limit is.  Looks like this:

And finally, we also show you on the bookmark detail page, so you can see it before you edit:

Once your bookmark has reached the submission limit, we’ll automatically pause it for you.  You can always go in and increase the submission limit and then un-pause it if you’d like to promote it more in the future.

We’re hoping that this new capability will let our members have much better control over exactly how their sites and pages are promoted.  Let us know what you think!

  • Moved to new host

As we’ve been growing, you can probably imagine that the load on our server has been increasing.  At the same time, our need for a higher level of support and customer service is also growing.  More users depending on our service means that we need to be confident that we can find help right away if we need it.

To tackle both of these challenges, we moved SocialAdr to a new web host this past week.  For the most part it was a smooth transition, although we do have just a couple of minor configuration tweaks that we’re getting cleaned up.  The one impact to our customer has been that the speed with which we’re able to process the bookmarks they’ve shared is somewhat decreased.  The work is still recorded and will be completed eventually, but it hasn’t been as timely as we’d like.

We’re leveraging the enhanced support capabilities of our new host to get it resolved and expect things to return to usual shortly.  For the long run, we’re better positioned at our new home to rapidly scale up as our user base grows.

  • Affiliate Program is Coming!

We’ve had an overwhelming demand for one so the last week I’ve been hard at work developing it.  We decided to just write our own as we’d have more control over all the functionality, than if we used a company like ClickBank or PayDotCom.

It may be a week away, it may be two weeks away…but it’s coming! :)

I know we’ve been a little quiet through the holiday season, but even Kane deserves a break once in a while. :)  We’ve been working on helping all the new members get settled in, as well as a few other changes that have been noted on the blog like the upgrade page, etc.

Once the new year hits, expect things to pick up again.  But in the meantime, if you haven’t checked out this page on how to get the most out of your SocialAdr account, it’s definitely worth a quick read.  There are a few simple steps you can take to make sure that your getting the most bang for your buck.
