Hey folks, here’s some changes we’ve recently rolled out:

    • Added a new social media site:  Chime.in.  It’s a fairly new and completely custom social networking / microblogging site that could become quite popular.  It already has an impressive Alexa rating of < 5,000.
    • Bug fix where if bookmark title had special characters the history export CSV filename would become corrupted.

    Cheers!

  • Improved indexing rates of social media links

We’ve been experimenting for a while now on different techniques for improving search engine indexing rates.  And we’ve got some good news: we can happily say that we’ve found a service that seems to work quite well.

    BacklinksIndexer

In our tests, we managed to increase the indexing rates of a random set of over 400 social media account URLs by nearly 50% (48% to be exact) over a 3 week period.  That’s huge.

Why is it important for backlinks to be indexed?

It’s widely believed in the SEO business that backlinks aren’t valuable unless they are visible in Google’s index (by doing a site: or info: search for the url in Google).  I personally think links can also be valuable (possibly less valuable though) if Google decides not to show them in their index, but that’s just my opinion.  My reasoning is that many sites use the noindex meta tag, but why should this mean that links from these pages to other pages should be ignored in determining rankings?

What does this mean to SocialAdr members?

All social media links created by SocialAdr will now be processed by BacklinksIndexer.   We’re not charging anything extra for this new feature, and there’s nothing you need to do to enable it for your account.

By boosting the indexation rates, this should increase the “link juice” or SEO benefit of these links.  As far as exactly how much effect this should have on rankings, we’re not sure, but if you happen to notice any differences, we’d love to hear about it.

Hi, this sounds fantastic. My biggest concern with Social ADR was that while I am getting many bookmarks, only a portion of them were being indexed. Numerous forums I have seen have all kinds of further ideas with adding bookmarks into rss feeds and pinging etc but in all honesty, if you are paying for a service, you don’t really want to be doing this. you want to be sure that as many of you links you have paid for are being indexed and passing benefit back to your site.

This sounds like a great move and adds more value to your service. Keep up the great work.

      Cheers
      Rich

Now this is AWESOME! Being able to increase indexing rates by almost 50% is huge. Way to go. Thank you for this move.

      Hey Kane,

Will this new backlinkindexer feature be used on all the bookmarks that you have created on Social Adr in the past or only the ones after you added the feature? If I have to stop my account for a couple of months and restart later- will the bookmarks continue to be juiced with backlinkindexer?

    • Kane 3:44 pm on January 21, 2012 Permalink

@Jeff – Yes, we’re using it on all past and future bookmarks. You can stop and start your account and it won’t affect any processing with BacklinksIndexer.

Thanks for the quick response Kane! This is great info. Peace, Jeff

We’ve just rolled out some updates to SocialAdr:
    • You can now get affiliate commissions paid out with SocialAdr credits (at an awesome rate of 1 cent = 1 credit), rather than PayPal
    • Updated StumbleUpon and MySiteVote connectors to have better error reporting
    • Added ability to export CSV SubmissionBoost results at the bookmark level (rather than for ALL bookmarks)
    • Free members can no longer receive Tweets, they can only send Tweets to earn credits
    • We’ve reduced the credits earned by Tweeting and normal bookmark shares by 1/2.  This is because we realized after adding Twitter and Google +1 that Free users were able to earn way more credits than originally intended.

    • Bill Gelwick 1:14 pm on January 13, 2012 Permalink

Not cool on the twitter thing. I would rather ditch the +1 than to drop off the twitter credits. I and others left tribepro because of changes they made that screwed the free members. This is different, but I still feel screwed. I can gain less credits now with the +1 than I did before with just twitter.

    • Kane 11:41 pm on January 13, 2012 Permalink

Hi Bill, thanks for the honest feedback. Just to clarify, Free members can still “earn” Twitter credits, you just can’t receive Tweets any more. From your comment I wasn’t sure if you understood this.

We have to keep a balance between features/benefits of the Free account and Paid accounts. Even though we do offer a Free service, which in my opinion is one of the best value Free services in the SEO biz, we’re still a business.

When we realized the Free accounts were able to earn more than double the credits as they originally did, we had to make some changes. Hope you can understand.

That being said, we will still be adding new social sites in the future, most of which will be accessible to our Free members.

    • Bill Gelwick 9:27 am on January 14, 2012 Permalink

Yeah, I did miss that free members can no longer receive tweets. Not that it matters.

This is a great service, and I understand about needing to stay in business.

Bottom line is, I earn fewer credits now than before the +1 integration. That is my issue.

Thank you for keeping on top of things though. This is still a great service.

    For this latest release, we’ve:

    • Added “History Download” for individual bookmarks.  This has been requested by several people doing SEO consulting that need to send complete history to their clients.  Now it’s much, much easier!  Just go to History > My Bookmarks, click on the “Submission Count” field for the bookmark you want history for, then scroll to the bottom and enter dates, then click “Download”.
    • Updated spintax function to be more robust.  It can now handle multi-nested spin tags and has better spintax error reporting. This function is used to spin your bookmark Titles and Descriptions during submission to the social media sites.
    • Improved the connector code for Diigo, MySiteVote, SiteSays, and SoForce social bookmarking sites to have better submission rates and error reporting.

    Happy Holidays!
